Profile

Senior engineer with 15+ years of experience designing, building and operating business-critical distributed systems in regulated environments.

Two things that rarely sit in one CV: the engineering that moves data, and the research that questions it. On one side, integration and data platforms, reconciling systems that disagree about the same entity and building the pipelines that carry the result. On the other, formal quantitative research conducted at Philips Research and published: study design, standardised instruments, significance testing.

Combines that with a strong focus on platform reliability, observability and operational excellence, and on enabling development teams through standardization, CI/CD practices and observability improvements.

Known for reducing system complexity, increasing reliability, and acting as escalation point for production-critical systems in high-volume environments.

Senior engineer focused on designing and operating reliable platform and data components in cloud environments, and on the analysis that decides what they should carry. Combines hands-on engineering with system reliability, observability and production operations.

Approach

Integration approach

  • Contract-first API design with explicit failure modes
  • Event-driven patterns for loose coupling in distributed systems
  • Observability built in from the design phase
  • Incremental migration strategies minimizing operational risk
  • Data pipelines designed for analytics and AI consumption

Technical leadership

  • Acted as escalation point for production incidents
  • Owned integration standards and patterns across teams
  • Reviewed and challenged integration designs on reliability, operability and failure handling
  • Mentored engineers on ESB to cloud migration

Selected integration challenges resolved

  • Prevented cascading failures by isolating partner outages
  • Migrated legacy ESB flows without business downtime
  • Reduced incident MTTR via structured logging and tracing
  • Stabilized high-volume retail and healthcare message spikes

Background in Human-Computer Interaction (PDEng, TU/e) informs an integration design philosophy: treating system interfaces as interaction contracts with explicit expectations, failure modes and error handling. This cross-disciplinary approach results in integration layers that are maintainable, debuggable and resilient under real-world operational conditions.
