SeriousLab

SeriousLab was a B2B webshop built on CodeIgniter, with a web application alongside it for making stills. It was the first project Dirk used CodeIgniter for.

The shop ran on user rights, because the material is personal: a customer uploads their own photograph, it is processed into the product, and what they see in the basket is their own image inside the design. From there, coupon codes and payment. Behind it, an admin side for managing products, categories and their properties.

The stills tool is the interesting half. A customer picks a template and drops a photograph into it, and the application composes the two into a finished still to be printed or shown. The templates carry the design work: headphones and speakers for a music night, silhouettes against a sunburst, rainbows, butterflies, a bare tree at dusk, each built around a clear window where the photograph lands.
